Linda Marie Gray Carter

Linda Marie Carter, 76 of Middlesex, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2026, peacefully at the Hospice House in Smithfield with her family by her side. A funeral service will be held at 11a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson. Pastor David Varnell and Pastor Keith Holland will officiate.

The family will receive friends on Monday evening, June 8, 2026, from 6 – 8 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road, Wilson.

Linda was a remarkable woman who loved to work in her yard; tending to her flowers or garden, she loved to cook for her family and friends. Linda was a faithful servant to her Lord and she loved to help others in their time of need. She was an avid bird lover and seamstress. Linda loved her children and grandchildren with all of her heart; they were her world. She will be dearly missed and thought of very often with wonderful memories.

Linda is survived by her daughters, Bridgette Carter, Ann McClung and husband, Keith, and Marsha Carter and fiancé, Ashley Hodges; granddaughters, Emily Benedict and fiancé, Tyler Bond, Lori Ann McClung, and Katie McClung; grandsons, William McClung and Jackson Kemp; sisters, Betty Jo Woodall, Debbie Woodall, Denise Bailey and husband, Danny, and Mary Holland husband, Keith; brothers, Robert Gray and wife, Dawn, and Donnie Gray and wife, Patty.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary “Mag” Magdalene Lamm; father, Robert “Bob” Gray and her brother, William “Billy” Blandford Gray.
