Louis Ray Whitman, Jr.

Louis Ray Whitman, Jr., 60 of Lucama passed away Thursday, June 11, 2026. A graveside service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, 2026, in the Whitman Family Cemetery, Lucama. Rev. Jasper Kent will officiate.

The family will receive friends Monday evening, June 15, 2026, from 6 – 8 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.

Louis was known as the Mopar Man. He loved drag racing, cars, and riding four wheelers. His dogs were constant companions and he loved them dearly.

Louis is survived by his loving wife of sixteen years, Susan Taylor Whitman; sons, Michael Whitman and wife, Kelly, and Austin Carter and wife, Elissa; grandson, Emmit; granddaughters, Elizabeth, Emryn, and Brynnleigh; mother, Christine Ferrell Whitman; sister, Tammy Aycocke; his in-laws, Cathy and Danny Carter and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Ray Whitman, Sr.; grandmother, Mavis Irene Mason; grandfather, Arthur Ferrell and his fur babies, Buttons, Zena, and Buster.
