Madison Leigh Lewis

Madison Leigh Lewis May 2, 1996 – March 19, 2021 Madison Leigh Lewis, 24 of Middlesex left this world peacefully on Friday and awoke in Heaven after a lifelong illness. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Inurnment will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Hollywood Cemetery, Middlesex. The family will receive friends Monday from 5:30 – 6:45 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Madison showed us strength, perseverance, and had the ability to overcome incredible odds and physical challenges. With her courage she showed us that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. Madison enjoyed music, loved to sing and knew all the songs, eating at McDonalds, riding the four-wheeler and her barbie jeep, taking everyone’s ice and loving her family. Madison’s family loved her deeply and will miss her everyday but she will forever remain in their hearts. Madison is survived by her mother, Paige Murray Lewis of Bailey; father, Wayne Daniel Lewis and step-mother, Sharon of Middlesex; sister, Morgan Paige Lewis and fiancé, Michael Smith of West Mount; grandmother, Jo Ellen Murray of Bailey and a host of loving aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Ann Lewis Cooper; grandfathers, Harvey Lewis and Bobby Murray, and Toby, her black lab who spent many nights sleeping by her bed. The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to her wonderful caregivers that provided love, brought joy and support to enhance her daily life; Bailey’s Home Health and Respite Care and Wilson Hospice Care along with many special people who gave their love and attention to Madison. Sincere thanks to her doctors, Dr. Muenzur and Dr. Alligood whose dedication and wisdom were able to give Madison the hope and the strength she needed to survive her toughest challenges. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to National MPS Society, PO Box 14686, Durham, North Carolina 27709 or www.mpssociety.org.
