Margaret Ann Medlin Glover, 87, of the Mount Pleasant Community passed away Thursday evening with her loving daughters by her side.   A funeral service will be held Monday, January 23, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Samaria Baptist Church, 3752 Samaria Church Lane, Middlesex, North Carolina with the Rev. The family will receive friends Sunday evening, 5:00 – 7:00 pm January 22, 2023, at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.

Ann is now completely whole and no longer physically weak.  She is with Jesus now and reunited with the love of her life, Ed.  To everyone that knew her, she was one of the most caring, kind, considerate, giving women in the world. Mostly she was a prayer warrior.  She loved her family and was affectionately called Granny by her precious grandchildren and great grandsons.

This loving gem was born on August 7, 1935, to Herman Clifford and Margaret Clancy Avent Medlin in the Ferrells township of Nash County.  Ann attended Mt. Pleasant Elementary School until 8th grade and then went to Bailey High School where she graduated in 1954.  She went on to work in Raleigh as Secretary to the Engineering Department with Peden Steel Co. for 4 years.  She then married Edward on August 31, 1956 and moved into the Mt. Pleasant Community where they started a family.  She briefly went with Ed to Salisbury, Maryland where he was a Trailways bus driver.  She did not like being that far from Nash County.  Ann told Edward if they could just move back to Mt. Pleasant, she would top and sucker tobacco for the rest of her life – and so back home they came, and she stuck to her word.  She was a stay-at-home Mother taking care of her girls, selling Avon as a side job, working on the farm helping with tobacco crops and tending a garden.  It was nothing for her to be up at the crack of dawn pulling butterbeans, then running home to get the girls up to help take out a barn of tobacco and then come back and have breakfast cooked, all before 7:30 am – ready to get to the tobacco barns for another day.   In 1973, Ann began working as Secretary in the Business Office of Wilson Memorial Hospital.  She worked there until her retirement in June 1988.  Ann had many friends and met a lot of wonderful people during her work at the hospital.

Always a supporter of her husband, when he became a member of the Southern Nash Memorial VFW Post 4147 in Mt. Pleasant, Ann became a dedicated member of the VFW’s Ladies Auxiliary.  She served as secretary for several years and was always willing to serve and do her part in the activities of the VFW.

From the time she was a little girl, Ann attended Samaria Baptist Church where she was saved.  Ann was a Vacation Bible School teacher, Sunday School teacher and involved in the Women’s Missionary Union.  Ann loved her church family and attending worship services and serving her Lord.  She was a praying woman and loved talking about Jesus.

Ann is survived by her loving and devoted daughters, Debra A. Glover of Whitakers, Kathy Glover Merrill and husband, Michael of Bailey, and Wanda Glover Anderson and husband, David of Durham; her grandchildren, Lora W. Prevatte and husband, Darren of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, Mallory W. Harvey of Wilmington, Eric Edward Price of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; her great grandsons, Brayden and Maddox Prevatte; several nephews and nieces and special family friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Maltis Edward Glover; parents Herman C. and Margaret A. Medlin; her brother, Jim S. Medlin, sister, Janice M. Smith; her sons-in-law, Michael Kelly and Bill Babb; brother-in-law, Heber Smith, Jr., and sisters-in-law, Audrey June Glover and Charlotte P. Medlin.

A very special thank you to Ann’s loving care giver, Kathy Decker.  Also, the wonderful folks from Community Home Care of Hospice: Janice, Jackie, Jayne, Sharnetta, and Ricky.

Flowers are welcome or donations in her memory may be made to Samaria Baptist Church, 3752 Samaria Church Lane, Middlesex, North Carolina 27557.
