Marguerite Moore Lee

Marguerite Moore Lee, 98, of Wilson, passed away Monday, January 5, 2026.

Visitation will be held in the Fellowship Hall at First Baptist Church, 311 Nash St. N. Wilson, on Friday, January 9, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45pm. Funeral Services will begin in the sanctuary at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Chris Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Maplewood Cemetery, 400 College St. NE, Wilson.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial gift may be made to First Baptist Church, 311 Nash St. N. Wilson NC 27893, or Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina, 204 Idol St, Thomasville, NC 27360.

Marguerite is survived by her daughter, Peggy Powell (Bill) of Elm City; son, James Lee Jr. of Atlanta; son, John F. Lee (Lynn) of Nashville; granddaughter, Luisa Marguerite Lee; granddaughter, Sarah Powell; granddaughter, Emma Jane Powell (Jason Mercer); grandson, James Lloyd Powell (Melodie); granddaughter, Hannah Powell Miller (Lucas); great-grandchildren, Will Powell, Lee Powell, Redden Powell, Laureli Miller, Charlie Miller, Jeffrey Mercer, Sydney Mercer and Addie Mercer.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, James L. Lee, her father, Floyd J. Moore and her mother, Margaret McBride Moore, as well as her brother Floyd Moore Jr., and sister Barbara Moore Hillman.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Mrs. Lee’s caregivers, Lillie Edwards, Connie Woodard, Michelle Lancaster, Rene Brown and Cassandra Dublin, as well as her special friend, Rachel Floars.

The family would also like to thank the fine caregivers of Gentiva Hospice.
