Martin Mitchell “Mitch” Wells, 66, entered into rest peacefully on Thursday, February 15, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, February 23rd from 6:00 – 7:30pm at Joyner's Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.

Mitch was born on November 27, 1957, to the late Martin and Regina Wells.

He is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte West Wells, his daughter Misty and husband Ernest Proctor of Nashville, NC; his cherished grandchildren, Marlee and Elijah Proctor; sister, Beverly Nines of Rocky Mount, NC; nieces, Angie Nines and family and Shanna Radford and family. He also leaves behind his beloved companion, Max.

In addition to his family, he is survived by many friends that he loved dearly. Mitch’s memory will live on in the hearts of countless individuals in Rocky Mount, Wilson, Tarboro and beyond. He touched lives and left an unforgettable impression on people. Mitch was one of a kind, a superhero to many who loved him.

Mitch attended Rocky Mount Senior High and later trade school to become a Machinist.  One of his life's fulfillments stemmed from the satisfaction of hard work. He spent his career making friends along the way at Ilco Unican, South-East Fabricators and Wilson Iron Works. He loved his trade and enjoyed teaching it among many other things to others over the years.

While not at work, he enjoyed grilling out with family and friends. Mitch enjoyed many activities including but not limited to fishing, golfing, and pickleball. He also had a love for travel, nature, and spending time with his grandchildren.

The family would like to extend an invitation to all who loved him to visit and share their stories of Mitch at the Celebration of Life.
