April 1921 -July 14, 2013

Mildred Scott Smith Lamm, 92, of Wilson passed Sunday at her home after a period of declining health.   Mildred was the daughter of the late C.C. Scott and Lillian Neal Scott.   She was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Scott and her sister, Bettie Mae Taylor.   Mildred's first husband, Bruce Smith, passed away in 1971.  

Mildred was a lifelong resident of the Scott's Church Community and a longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.   She always enjoyed participating in her church's activities.   Even after her health failed, she attended church in her motorized wheelchair.

She is survived by her second husband of 37 years, James Thomas Lamm and her children, Randy (Jo) Smith, Carol (Charles) Pittman, Seth (Frances) Smith, Cathy (Earl) Sullivan and her sister, Brenda (Billie) Cooper.   She is survived by many nieces and nephews and a special niece, Bettie Taylor Jones.   She is also survived by six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Her favorite hobbies when she was able were working in her garden, traveling, doing her yard work, helping her church family and friends, playing setback, and helping her children and grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Joyner's Funeral Home with her ministers, Dr. Frank Haggard and CLP Vernon Grimes presiding.   Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends 6:30- 8:00 Tuesday at Joyner's Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home.
