Nancy Bass Turnage

Nancy Bass Turnage, 93, of Wilson passed away Friday, September 4, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1815 Airport Boulevard, Wilson. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. Pastor Joe Shakour will officiate.

The family will receive friends Wednesday prior to the service from 11 – 12:45 p.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church, Wilson.

Nancy was a faithful servant of the Lord who found great joy and purpose in serving and loving her family and friends. As the matriarch of her family, Nancy didn’t just watch her family grow, she intentionally guided their paths and shaped who they became. Nancy was a devout member of Tabernacle Baptist Church for over sixty years and had a deep love and involvement with Wilson Christian Academy.

Nancy is survived by her daughter, Teresa Turnage Finch and husband, Dennis of Wilson; granddaughters, Michelle Joyner and husband, Alan of Wilson, Beverly Efird and husband, Matt of Wilson, Rebecca Turnage, and Jamie Darroch and husband, Marshall of Wilmington; grandson, David Turnage and wife, Morgan of Wilson; great-grandchildren, Brayden Joyner, Katherine Joyner, Camden Efird, Carolina Turnage, Madi Efird, Luke Darroch, Ella Staton-Turnage, Eli Staton-Turnage, Logan Darroch and Mason Turnage, and her brother, Edward Bass and wife, Judy of Leland.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Turnage; son, Greg Turnage; parents, Wiley and Dora Rose Bass; sisters, Ruth Whitley, Ann Bedford, Leona Lamm, Esther Whitley and Daisy Dodds and her brother, Clement Bass.
