Oland Franklin Barnes

Oland Franklin Barnes June 8, 1937 – September 5, 2021 Oland Franklin Barnes, 84 of Sims passed away Sunday. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon in Bailey Town Cemetery, Bailey. The Rev. Wayne Whitley will officiate. The family will receive friends Wednesday morning from 11 – 1 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Oland had the kindest soul and biggest heart and was thought of as the best daddy ever. He was a loving father, grandfather, stepfather and step-grandfather, who will be thought of often with wonderful memories that will bring smiles. Oland is survived by his wife, Emma Barnes of Sims; daughters, Rhonda B. Fluegel of Wilson, Robin Barnes of Wilson, and Bonnie Barnes of Virginia Beach; sons, Frank Barnes of Raleigh, and Jonathan Barnes of Sims; stepdaughters, Mysi Fortenbery and husband, Jay of Edenton, and Jaymi Mitchell of Greenville; Ronnie Wells, who was thought of as a son; three grandchildren; two-step grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
