Patrick Henry Carter, 65, of Black Creek, passed away on Monday, July 21.
Pat was raised in the Buckhorn Community of Wilson County.
He attended Rock Ridge and James B. Hunt high schools, graduating in 1979.
After graduation, he started a career with the North Carolina Department of Transportation, retiring after 30 years.
Pat loved fishing, a hobby he picked up from his grandmother, Carrie Bell Barnes, on the piers, lakes and ponds of Eastern North Carolina. After his retirement, he ran a small lawn maintenance business.
Pat was a devoted husband for 28 years to his wife, Carolyn Pipkin Carter, who passed away in 2021.
Pat had a deep love for his family and was a friend to all he met.
Pat is survived by his sister-in-law, Christine Elizabeth Carter; a niece, Ava Elizabeth Carter; several loving cousins and his pet, Buddy.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Edith Bass Carter and brother, Mark David Carter.
