Paul Douglas Lamm

Paul Douglas Lamm, 88, of Lucama, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2025.

Mr. Lamm was a 1957 graduate of Lee Woodard High School where he was an honor student, played basketball, and had served as a bus driver. Following graduation, he pursued his education at Atlantic Christian College, now Barton College, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in physical education. A longtime educator, he retired having taught for over 50 years as both a driver’s education instructor and physical education teacher. He was a member of Benson Grove Baptist Church, enjoyed going to the beach, and loved his animals. He also dearly loved his “homeplace” and the farm with its rich history of being in his family for generations.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Pkwy W, Wilson, NC 27896. The Rev. Wayne Whitley will be officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Wilson.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at Joyner’s Funeral Home.

Surviving is his wife, Jeanette Lamm; his son, Craig Douglas Lamm of Washington; stepson, Jonathan Wood of Lucama; stepdaughter, Susan Kornett of Raleigh; granddaughter, Tyler Lamm of Tarboro, grandson, Clayton Lamm of Raleigh, great-grandson, Lucian Fleming, great-granddaughter, Adelaide Fleming, great-grandson, Malakai Fleming, all of Tarboro; a sister, Judy Carolyn Smith of Black Creek; his first wife, Dr. Mary Lou Chandler of Washington; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry and Mary Lamm; siblings, Lloyd Lamm, Carnell Lamm, Floyd Lamm, Troy Lamm, Elsie Bunn, and Hulen Lamm; and his brother-in-law, James Thomas Smith.
