Peggy Hedgepeth Anderson

Peggy Hedgepeth Anderson passed away on February 2, 2026. Peggy was born in Rocky Mount, NC on March 23, 1932, the daughter of Benjamin F. Hedgepeth and Willie Rouse Hedgepeth.

Upon her marriage to Joseph Thomas Anderson on June 9, 1954, she moved to Wilson, NC. She found employment with Branch Banking & Trust Company (later BB&T). She was in commercial banking for 12 years and then was asked to join the staff of BB&T’s Travel Department in 1966. She progressed in her assignment and was promoted to Vice President and Manager of the area. She retired in 1995 with 41 years of service.

Peggy was an active member of First Christian Church of Wilson. She served in the capacity of Trustee, Elder, Deacon and Chairman of several committees.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, spouse, 4 sisters and 5 brothers.

She is survived by her son, Joseph Todd Anderson (Wendy); daughter, Bari Anderson Rodgers (Todd); four grandchildren, Michael McCabe Anderson (Rachel), Lauren Anderson Hawkins (Dylan), Taner Gray Rodgers and Caroline Thorne Anderson; three great-grandchildren, Kensington McGreggor Anderson, Bennett William Anderson and Warner James Hawkins; sister-in-law, Marie Joyner Hedgepeth and several cherished nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2026, in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson. Rev. Morgan Daughty will officiate.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to The Landing where she lived for 5 years, the Wilson Pines staff for caring for her for the last 7 months and her Gentiva Hospice care givers. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Christian Church 207 Tarboro Street E Wilson, NC 27893 in her memory.
