Robert Ann Wolfe, 76, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2025, at Wilson Pines Nursing Home in North Carolina. Roberta was raised by her loving grandparents, James and Lois Wolfe after her mother passed at a young age. Roberta was proceeded in death by both her parents and grandparents. She is survived by her remaining cousin, Virginia Charlton.
Born in Ohio on January 10, 1949, Roberta’s life marked by a deep sense of purpose, courage, and a trailblazing spirit. Her journey took her across the country, from her early roots in Ohio to time spent in Florida, and ultimately to North Carolina, where she would leave a lasting legacy in law enforcement.
Roberta began her career as a private investigator, a calling that revealed both her keen mind and unshakable resolve. On August 18, 1980, she was hired by the North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement (ALE) as a Special Agent, and she made history by becoming the first woman to attend the ALE Basic School held at the North Carolina State Highway Patrol Academy. Her career with ALE was distinguished by a series of well-earned promotions. She served in Jacksonville, North Carolina before transferring to Greensboro, and on September 11, 1989, she was promoted to Assistant Supervisor. Roberta later became a Special Agent in Charge and was transferred to Durham, where she served with distinction until her departure from ALE in 1994.
Roberta was known for her quiet strength, her unwavering professionalism, and her commitment to paving the way for those who would follow in her footsteps. She broke barriers not for recognition, but because she believed in the work and in the people she served alongside.
Her legacy is one of courage, integrity, and leadership.
A special thank you to Wilson Pines for their heartfelt love and care during her stay.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2025, in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson, North Carolina.
