Roland Joseph Hinnant

Roland Joseph Hinnant April 25, 1951 – September 36, 2021 Roland “Joe” Joseph Hinnant, 70 of Williamsburg, Virginia passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021. Originally from Kenly, he was the oldest son of Joanne and Roland Jennings. He experienced a long and successful career as a computer programmer at the Richmond Times Dispatch. His funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Buckhorn United Methodist Church, Hwy 42, Kenly. Family will receive friends following the service with interment following in Buckhorn Cemetery, Kenly. Pastor Carol Dean will officiate. A perpetual giver, he was known for his kind and gentle manner. A lively man who no matter what the situation, met you with a smile and as we all know a joke. It was the same joke, the same tone, and the same jolly laugh that followed. The sweet and simple greetings are extended mirrored the consistency of the man. He labored to live in a way that was consistently loving, consistently giving. Now, he remains a constant in our hearts, the fruit of his labor. Joe is survived by his wife, Linda Chalkley Hinnant; step-daughters, Kendall Toombs, and Shannon Christopher; brothers, David J. Hinnant and wife, Vickie, Kenneth A. Hinnant, and Steven Hinnant all of Kenly; one niece, and five nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland Jennings Hinnant and Joanne K. Hinnant, and his brother, Robert Thomas Hinnant. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials in Joe’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105. Condolences directed to Joyner’s Funeral Home and Crematory at www.joyners.net.
