Roy Parrish

Roy Parrish, 83, of Wilson passed away Friday, June 13, 2025. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2025, in Elmwood Cemetery, 303 E North Street, Fremont. Rev. Jasper Renfrow and Rev. Steve Strickland will officiate.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.

Roy retired from Abbot Laboratory and a member of Grace Baptist Church where he served his Lord with joy in his heart. He was a longtime member of Happy Valley Golf Course and an avid golfer. He was an avid UNC Tarheel fan and supporter and a New York Yankee fan.

Roy is survived by his son, Craig Parrish and wife, Linda of Wilson; daughter, Tara Penny and husband, Jimmy of Wilson; grandson, Landon Penny; granddaughter, Cali Penny; sisters, Bonnie Hayes of Wilson, Mary Frances Wright of Conway, South Carolina, Diane Turner of Black Creek, and Brenda Bunn of Lucama, and his brother, Randy Parrish of Goldsboro.

He was preceded in death by his wife of thirty-six years, Brenda Wade Parrish; his mother, Alberta Parrish; sisters, Elaine Barnes, Willa Lee Ivy, and Peggy Barnes, and his brothers, Jerry Parrish, Bobby “Dale” Parrish and Scottie Parrish.
