Sammie Buford Bearden

Sammie Buford Bearden, 77, passed away on Tuesday, June 6.  A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 9 in Good News Advent Christian Church Cemetery at 11:00 am.  Reverend Thomas Ellis will officiate.

Sammie was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served during the Vietnam War.  He later went on to serve with the Wilson Fire Department, rising to the rank of Captain, and retired after thirty years of faithful service.  He enjoyed his family, especially being “Pa-Paw” to his grandchildren.

Sammie is survived by his loving wife, Susan Bearden; daughters, Jessica Stilley and husband, Brandon, and Shannon Nance; son, Sammie Bearden, Jr. and wife, Brandi; granddaughters, Makenzie Bearden and Kelsey Bearden; and grandsons, James Stilley and Ethan Nance.

Sammie was preceded in death by his parents, George Junior Bearden and Margie Lee Lewis Bearden; brother, George Bearden; and nephew, George Shannon Bearden.
