Sanford Taylor Barnes

Sanford “Sandy” Taylor Barnes, 82 of New Bern passed away Saturday, July 4, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Interment will follow in Soloman Lamm Family Cemetery, 5627 St. Mary’s Church Road, Lucama.

The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon prior to the service from 1 – 1:45 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.

Sandy is survived by his loving and wonderful wife of sixty-two years, Carolyn Barnes; son, Jeff Barnes and wife, Julie, and his granddaughters, Katie Barnes and Elizabeth Barnes.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Lynn Barnes; grandson, Christopher Barnes and his parents, Jesse and Beatrice Barnes.
