Shirley Ann Heuser

Shirley Ann Heuser, 71, of Mount Olive, formerly of Smithfield, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2025. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 15, 2025, in Elizabeth United Methodist Church, 4629 Cleveland School Road, Smithfield. Rev. Greg Day and Rev. Ken White will officiate.

Shirley was a remarkable lady who was an avid crafter, she enjoyed making floral arrangements, cake plates, cups and blankets. She loved all her glitter, flowers, silk and those in her garden. Shirley was a certified wildfire rehabber. She had lots of animals over the years and loved each and everyone of her fur babies, especially squirrels. Her real job was a phlebotomist at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Smithfield.

Shirley is survived by her husband of fifty years, Terry William Heuser; daughters, Shanya Harb, Kimberly Grimes, and Nikki Anderson, and her bonus daughter, Jessica McTaggert; grandchildren, Taylor, Tanna, Grayson, Alex, DJ, Bradley, Daisy, and Zech; five great-grandchildren with two more arriving in November and December.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren “Doodle” Jernigan and Martha B. Jernigan.
