Thurman Randolph Batten, 86, of Wilson passed away at SECU Hospice House of Johnston Health.  Funeral services will be conducted 11 Wednesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson.   Thurman was a World War II Veteran, a very active Mason and Shriner and he attended Shiloh Pentecostal Holiness Church.  He had a loving family, many friends and wonderful neighbors and was known to all by his kind, gentle and giving spirit.  Thurman’s retirement years were spent working at Happy Valley Golf Country Club.  Golf was his favorite hobby and one in which he excelled.   Thurman leaves behind his wife of nearly 65 years, Erline Lamm Batten; his daughter, Sharon Barnes and husband, Frank of Beaufort; his grandson, David Batten of Wilson; his daughter-in-law, Vicky Collie and husband, Richard of Wilson; his sister, Peggy Lamm of Lucama; his brothers, Carroll Batten and wife, Laverle of Wilson; Colin Batten and wife, Judy of Stantonsburg, Jack Batten and wife, Joan of Roanoke, VA, Jimmy Batten of  Johnston County and Rubin Batten of Tennessee; his sister-in-laws, Helen Batten of Rocky Mount, Velma Bobbitt of Wilson and Mildred Lamm of Wilson; his brother-in-law, Floyd (Cubby) Lamm and wife, Aurora of South Carolina and many caring nieces and nephews.   Thurman was born on February 3, 1927 and was the son of the late Bennie and Blanche Batten.  In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his son, Randy Batten; his brothers, Jake, Goy, Elton, Carl and his sister, Virginia.   Condolences may be directed to www.joyners.net
