Virginia graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education in 2002.

Virginia had a deep love for reading, which led her to begin a career in elementary education and service with AmeriCorps. She was passionate about teaching her students how to read and inspiring a lifelong love of learning. Beyond the classroom, Virginia found joy in the arts, especially painting and pottery.

Virginia treasured time spent with her daughters—whether it was all-night movie marathons, attending the ballet, traveling to art festivals, or enjoying trips to the beach. These moments were among her greatest joys.

She was a gentle and kind soul, known for her tender heart and deep empathy for others. Virginia also had a special love for her beloved furry companions. Her laughter was truly contagious, often filling a room and bringing joy to everyone around her.

A faithful member of Farmington Heights Church for over 20 years, Virginia was actively involved in the Senior Adult Fellowship. She was a devoted worshipper, full of the Spirit and deeply committed to the Lord.

Virginia is survived by her daughters, Leighanna Dandridge and her husband, Steven, along with their daughter, Ariah Leigh, of Wilson; and Amelia Bain and her husband, Jeffrey, along with their daughter, Savannah Grace, and son, Caleb Stewart of Wilson; her brother, William Clifton Corbett, Jr. and his wife, Alysia; and her sister, Genie Corbett Clarkson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Grace “Tootsie” Corbett and William Clifton Corbett, Sr., “Cliff.”
