Williard Lamm, 83, of Stantonsburg passed away Monday, February 2, 2026. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson.
The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 12:30 – 1:45 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.
Willard was a hardworking man and a talented carpenter who could build or fix most anything. He was also a skilled marksman who joined the Army at 18 and became the youngest of 11 members of the rifle squad in his company. After leaving the Army, he joined the National Guard and remained a member for many years. Willard was a life-long Wilsonian except for the 9 years he lived in Titusville, Florida where he set tile and designed and laid intricate tile floors. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing for drum and watching manatees swim in the Indian River. He was an avid gardener who grew beautiful flowers and vegetables in the summertime. He loved animals of all kinds and cared for many pets over the years, including not only dogs, but a horse, a pig, a peacock, a ferret, sugar gliders, and even an armadillo. He especially loved caring for and raising baby chicks, ducks and geese. More than anything though, Willard loved his family.
Willard is survived by his wife, Margaret “Peggy” Lamm of Stantonsburg; daughter, Sherry Williams of Wilson; son, Dustin Lamm and wife, Jamie of Wilson; grandchildren, Christian Lamm, Steven Williams, Gabriel Lamm and Abigail Lamm, and his brother, Millard Lamm and wife, Edna of Elm City.
He was preceded in death by his son, Anthony Lamm; parents, Billie and Viola Lamm; brothers, Bill Lamm and Braxton Lamm, and his son-in-law, Tim Williams.
Condolences directed to Joyner’s Funeral Home and Crematory at www.joyners.net.
