William "Billy" Mark Mercer

William “Billy” Mark Mercer, 82, of Elm City passed away Saturday, May 31, 2025. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 5, 2025, in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson. Rev. Bill Haddock will officiate.

Billy was a long-distance owner/operator in the trucking business. He loved his job and made so many friends on his travels with many stories to tell.

Billy is survived by his loving wife of thirty years, Ernestine Mercer; sons, Duane Moore and wife, Amanda, and Mark Mercer and his family; granddaughter, Taylor Morgan; grandson, Ben Moore; great-grandson, Colton Morgan, and his brother, Ralph Pierce, Jr. and wife, Therese.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Angela Morgan; parents, Johnny Mercer and Helen Pierce; step-dad, Ralph Pierce, and his sisters, Linda Mercer Pope and Susan Pierce.
