William Lawrence Ellis, Jr.

William Lawrence Ellis June 29, 1961 – September 22, 2021 William Lawrence Ellis, Jr. 60 of Wilson passed away Wednesday. Private services will be held for the family. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5 – 8 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. Lawrence worked with Bill’s BBQ for over forty years, and in February of 2018 Lawrence opened Marty’s BBQ in Wilson. Lawrence is survived by his wife, Wanda Ellis; daughter, Natalie Ellis; sons, Marty Ellis, Lawson Ellis, and Will Ellis; sister, Vickie Ellis Whitfield of Wilson; niece, Madison Whitfield of Wilson; nephew, William Whitfield of Wilson, and his sister-in-law, Harriet Ellis Stinson of Wilson. He was preceded in death by his parents, William “Bill” Lawrence and Lillian Lorraine Ellis, and his brother, Marty Ellis.
