William “Bill” Edward Lewis, 73, of Wilson passed away on Friday, September 5, 2025. A visitation and gathering for friends and family will be held Wednesday September 10, 2025, at 3 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson to celebrate his life. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery will be held at a later time.
Bill enjoyed a good conversation and was known for his kind heart that made him so loved by many people. Bill was a graduate of Elm City High School and Atlantic Christian College and worked many years at the Elm City Piggly Wiggly and has continued a friendship with many of his co-workers and customers for years after his retirement. Bill volunteered with the Wilson Crisis Center, serving as treasurer and received a special recognition award for his many hours volunteering.
Bill is survived by his cousins Debbie Bradley (Lawrence)of Wilson, Pat Perry (Ricky) of Wendell, and Ginny Taylor (Mark) of Jacksonville, Florida, along with many other cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Dorothy Lewis; brother, David Lewis; sister, Susan Lewis Boykin, and a special aunt, Gertrude Lewis White.
