William Robert Wicker

William Robert Wicker January 25, 1939 – July 24, 2020 William “Bob” Robert Wicker, 81 of Wilson passed away Friday, July 24, 2020. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. The Rev. Claire Colcord will officiate. Bob was born in Cook County, Chicago and he graduated from Elon College with a B.S. and from Appalachian State University with a M.A degree. He taught school in South Boston, Virginia, and Wilson Community College, and Pitt County. Bob’s hobbies included photography, traveling, genealogy, trains and classical music. Bob was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be missed and thought of often. Bob is survived by his sister, Cairn Wicker Besser of Ashville; brother, Roger A. Wicker of Oakland, California; his friends, Sally Wilson, Debbie Webb, James Lamm, Ty Rowell, Bob Gwaltney, MJ and Jackie Jackson, Steve Aycock, John Long, and Lea Mitchell Blanton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles D. Wicker and Christian Elizabeth Cairns Wicker.
