Jean married James “Donnie” Winders in 1952, and they shared their married life in Wilson. They worked at Burlington Industries. Jean loved people, loved to travel, loved to joke and always had a funny one to tell. She was wonderful wife, loving mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and neighbor.
In 1985, her husband, Donnie, passed away, and she was a widow for ten years. In 1995, she married William “Carl” Evans. Carl passed away too soon in 2011. They had a wonderful life together.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Donna Jean Winders of the home; son, Philip Hugh Winders of Wilson; daughter-in-law, Lisa Winders of Enterprise, Alabama; grandsons, Spencer Winders and Kamden Winders; sister, Sheila Johnson and husband, Donald of Selma; many nieces and nephews; family friend and devoted caregiver, Yvonne “Von” Sexton, and her two fur babies, Grayson and Gracie.
She was preceded in death by her loving husbands, parents, sister, Marjorie Cuddington Gainus and her brother, Joe Cuddington.
The family extends heartfelt appreciation to Von for years of attentive daily care and diligence. Jean loved Von and expressed her gratitude often.
